District Administration takes serious note of teachers turning away from COVID duty

Mysore/Mysuru: The District Administration has taken serious note of the tendency of teachers to abstain from COVID-19 duties.

Deputy Commissioner (DC) Rohini Sindhuri has written to the Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI) on Apr. 23 seeking complete details of teachers and other staff of the Department who have abstained from assigned COVID-19 duties.

Pointing out that the Government has announced holidays for classes from first to tenth from Apr. 27 to May 4, the DC said that all teachers have been exempted from attending schools. All teachers, who were earlier deployed for COVID-19 duties, should continue with it until further orders, she said.

In her letter, the Deputy Commissioner is said to have asked complete details of teachers and staff serving in the district and aged below 55 years, in order to assign them COVID-19 duties in emergency situations if the pandemic continues to cause havoc in the district.

She has further directed the DDPI to ask the BEOs to assign COVID-19 tasks for teachers coming under their respective jurisdiction.
