District In-Charge Secretary asks officials to prevent bed-blocking

Mysore/Mysuru: District In-Charge Secretary N. Jayaram has asked officials to ensure that bed-blocking scam that was unearthed in Bengaluru recently does not recur in Mysuru.

Addressing a progress review meeting on COVID control measures taken by the District Administration at the ZP Hall here yesterday, Jayaram, who also took charge as Mysuru ZP Administrative Officer, said that utmost priority must be given for critical patients who need oxygen and ventilator support.

Noting that the second wave of COVID attack is proving to be more fatal than the first one, he said that the District Administration must take more stricter measures to check the spread of the virus and to ensure that oxygenated  beds are readily available for critical patients.

 Stressing on the need for preventing unnecessary admissions in Hospitals, Jayaram highlighted the benefits of stopping unnecessary Hospital admissions, as such a measure will reduce the stress on doctors and other Hospital staff.

Stating that asymptomatic patients can be asked to undergo home isolation, he said that the number of deaths is rising with the increasing number of positive cases in the district, which has caused scare among the public.

Emphasising on the need to  publicise the number of patients who recover, he said that the district authorities must act sternly against those organising functions and programmes amid COVID crisis.

Expressing concern over rising Corona cases in rural parts too, Jayaram directed for setting up COVID Care Centres at Taluk and Hobli levels too in order to reduce the pressure on city Hospitals. Suggesting to  temporarily convert Student Hostels and educational institutions’ buildings as COVID Care Centres, he said that asymptomatic patients can be taken care of here, with help from  social service organisations.

Jayaram also directed the Police to take stringent action against unnecessary movement of people on streets, by seizing vehicles and penalising  COVID guidelines violators.

The District In-Charge Secretary instructed DHO Dr. T. Amarnath to seek the assistance of Indian Medical Association for deputation of doctors for treating COVID patients.

DC Rohini Sindhuri, ZP CEO A.M.Yogesh, MCC  Commissioner Shilpa Nag, MUDA Commisioner Dr.D.B.Natesh, SP C.B. Ryshyanth, city Police Commissioner Dr. Chandragupta, DCP Dr.A.N.Prakash Gowda and other officials were present.
