Mysore/Mysuru: Principal District and Sessions Judge and member of District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) M.L. Raghunath has said that making use of the technology available in day-today affairs of the legal system will result in saving time and money for the people.
He was speaking at a workshop ‘Rules for Video Conferencing in Courts,’ jointly organised by Mysuru District Directorate of Public Prosecution and the District Police to create awareness among Public Prosecutors and Police officials about the procedures to be followed while submitting experts’ reports as witnesses through video conference at city Superintendent of Police (SP) Office auditorium on Saturday.
“By conducting virtual meetings and interactions, it is possible to save time and money apart from instilling a feeling of safety and transparency in the clients”, said Judge Raghunath
Stating that virtual meetings are being held in all Courts effectively since COVID-19 days, he said that they have brought transparency with regards to the status of the cases and enable the public to know pending cases and how many are disposed off.
Continuing he said that everybody should be aware of the procedure to be followed in virtual meetings and interactions. “In virtual Courts, an advocate is required to send the available documents to the official email-id of the concerned District Court, which save time and money for public as neither the advocate nor the client need not attend the Court in person,” he said and added that both the Supreme Court and the Union Government have directed the opening of e-Courts and in the coming days everyone should learn to deal with e-Courts.
Retd. District Judge R. Chandrashekar, SP R. Chetan, Additional SP R. Shivakumar, Government Public Prosecutor H.E. Chinappa, Judicial Officer M.S. Manjula and others were present on the occasion.
