District Kannada Sahitya Sammelana at H.D. Kote on Feb.23 and 24

Mysore/Mysuru: Two-day Mysuru District 18th Kannada Sahitya Sammelana will begin at Government PU College premises in H.D. Kote tomorrow (Feb. 23).

Addressing a press meet at Pathrakarthara Bhavan yesterday, District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna stated that veteran scholar Prof. N.S. Taranath has been selected as President of Kannada Sahitya Sammelana which will begin with flag hoisting near Chikkadevamma Mahadwara at 8.30 am on Feb. 23 followed by grand procession carrying the Sammelana President from first cross near Lakshmivaradaraja Swamy Temple at 9 am.

District Minister S.T. Somashekar will inaugurate the event at 10 am. MLA Anil Chikkamadu, Minister Arvind Limbavali and former Minister M. Shivanna will release a book. MP V. Sreenivasa Prasad will inaugurate the cultural programmes. MP Pratap Simha will inaugurate the book exhibition. MLA G.T. Devegowda will inaugurate the art exhibition. Later, former Sammelana President T. S. Rajappa will address the gathering followed by seminar on the topic Heggadadevanakote Taluku Darshana and Mysurina Vidwat Parampare. Kavigoshti will be held at 4.30 pm.

On Feb. 24 at 10.30 am, seminar on the topic Mysuru Jilleya Janapada Parampare will be held. At 12.30 pm, talk on Cauvery Jala Samasye followed by another seminar at 2.30 pm and special talk on the topic Shikshana Rangada Savalu at 4 pm. Felicitation programme will be held at 4.30 pm. MLA Anil Chikkamadu will inaugurate the event. Former MP R. Dhruvanarayan will felicitate the dignitaries. Raitha Sangha President Badagalapura Nagendra, Prof. N. Girigowda and former MLC Siddaraju will be the special invitees.

Valedictory function will be held at 5.30 pm. District Kannada Sahitya Parishat President Dr. Y.D. Rajanna will preside. Kannada Book Authority Chairman Dr. Nandish Hanche will deliver valedictory speech followed by Presidential address by Prof. N.S. Taranath.

Kannada activist Muguru Nanjundaswamy and Kannada Sahitya Parishat City President K.S. Shivaramu were present at the press meet.
