District-level State Government Employees Sports Meet in city on Jan. 3, 4

The District-level Annual Sports Meet (2019-20) of State Government employees will be held at various venues in city on Jan.3 and 4.

Disclosing this at a press meet at Pathrakartara Bhavan in city on Monday, State Government Employees Association State President H.K. Ramu said that the Sports Meet, organised jointly by the District Administration, Zilla Panchayat, Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports (DYES) and the district branch of the State Government Employees Association, will be held at Chamundi Vihar Stadium, Mysore University Grounds, Manasagangothri Indoor Stadium and Mysore Tennis Club grounds in Chamarajapuram.

He further said that District in-Charge Minister V. Somanna will inaugurate the event at Chamundi Vihar Stadium on Jan.3 at 10 am and the valedictory function will be held on Jan.4 at 4 pm.

The Sports Meet will feature Hockey, Wrestling, Kabaddi, Volleyball, Basketball, Athletics, Tennikoit, Weight-lifting, Power-lifting, Best Physique, Chess, Throwball, Swimming, Carrom, Football, Badminton, Table Tennis, Tennis and Cricket.

Cultural Contests

Also, cultural contests such as Hindustani Music, Light Classical Music, Karnatak Classical Music, Folk Songs (individual and group), Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Manipuri, Kuchipudi, Odissi and other classical and folk dances, Instrumental music like string instrumental music, Hindustani (Classical and Light Music), Wind instruments (Karnatak Classical and Light Classical Music), Handicrafts Expo and Skits have also been organised, Ramu added.

Pointing out that the Government employees from all taluks, who are willing to participate in the events, must register their names at Chamundi Vihar Stadium before 8.30 am on Jan.3, he said that all participants should compulsorily participate in the march-past to be held during the inaugural ceremony at 10 am.

Those winners securing first and second places in individual category and first prize winner in group events will be eligible to participate in the State-level Sports Meet, Ramu said.
