District Police Sports Meet begins

The three-day annual District Police Sports Meet organised by District Police at DAR Grounds located in  Jyothinagar was inaugurated by City Police Commissioner Dr. A. Subrahmanyeswara Rao, here yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion, he said that it was important for the Police have good physique and balanced mind and added that to cultivate  both sports played a vital role.

Similar to sports, Police do not have any religion except for ‘Khaki’. It is important for everyone to involve in one or the other sports, he added.

SP Ravi D. Channannavar, who spoke on the occasion said that District Police had constructed sports complex to help Police personnel to get physical fit and develop sportsmanship.

Stating the that complex would be inaugurated soon, he added that the facility had 400 mts track, volleyball and basketball courts, tennis courts among others.

Police personnel from Nanjangud, Mysuru Rural and Hunsur divisions, District Armed Force, DPO Special Unit and Mahila Police took part in the sports meet which ends on Dec. 16. Various events such as 100 mts sprint, 400 mts run, 800 mts run, 1,500 mts run, 5,000 mts run, 4×400 mts relay, high jump, long jump, shot put, volleyball, basketball, throwball, javelin throw, hammer throw, kabaddi, discuss throw, lemon and spoon race, lawn tennis, shooting and others were held.

Police Training School Principal Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti, Probationary IPS Officer Mohammad Sujitha, Additional SP N. Rudramuni and others officers were present.
