Do not crush silencers and damage roads

February 25, 2026

Sir,

I recently witnessed Mysuru City Police crushing unauthorised motorcycle silencers directly on the road.

While the enforcement action against illegal modifications is welcome, the manner in which it is being carried out raises concerns.

Crushing metal objects on public roads can damage the road surface, which is ultimately public property. Authorities could instead shift the seized silencers to a designated yard, crusher facility or any other suitable location where such disposal would not risk harming the road.

I hope the Mysuru City Police reconsider this practice and explore alternative methods to dispose of confiscated silencers without causing possible damage to public infrastructure.
