Chaitra Narayan has been awarded Ph.D in Microbiology by the University of Mysore (UoM) for her thesis ‘Bioactive Molecule Characterisation and Therapeutic Activities of Medicinal Plants’ submitted under the guidance of Dr. V. Ravishankar Rai. Chaitra’s work is the first report on the isolation of Ellagic Acid having Potential In vitro Anti-HIV-1 activity from the medicinal tree Terminalia Paniculata.
She has secured third rank in M.Sc (Microbiology) from the UoM. Chaitra has won several prizes at State and National level Conferences including first prize in poster presentation at the 16th National Convention of Society of Pharmacognosy and Intvernational Symposium on Herbal & Traditional Medicine and third prize in poster presentation in the State-level Meet on ‘Science and Technology for Societal Transformation.’
