Mysuru: In a bid to register their opposition to frequent attacks on hospital staff including doctors in the State, about 150 doctors from various hospitals and clinics staged a day-long dharna in city this morning. This was part of nation-wide dharna called by Indian Medical Association (IMA).
The doctors, headed by IMA Mysuru Chapter President Dr. Vishweswara, assembled in front of the IMA Mysuru Chapter on Sayyaji Rao Road and staged a silent dharna.
Similar dharnas are being held in across 4,000 Chapters of IMA throughout the country and 174 Chapters in the State.
The protesting doctors also demanded that the Central Hospital Protection Act be passed by the Centre.
In order to not inconvenience the patients, clinics and hospitals in city functioned as usual with other medical staff and doctors providing treatment to the patients.
IMA Mysuru Chapter Vice-President Dr. Basavana Gowda, Secretary Dr. Sujatha Rao and others were present during the dharna.
