Three killed, two injured after falling from scooter

Sargur: Three persons including a girl were killed while two others sustained serious injuries, when they lost balance and fell from the scooter in the dark near Swami Vivekananda Hospital here yesterday.

While the deceased have been identified as Kaushalya (16), Praveen and Yashwanth (12), the injured have been identified as 25-year-old Shivamurthy and 10-year-old Naveen.

The deceased and the injured were proceeding towards B. Matakere Bovi Colony from Sargur last evening in a Honda Access scooter in the dark, when a herd of cattle came on the road. The rider lost balance of the scooter as he tried to avoid hitting the cattle and all the five fell from the vehicle killing Kaushalya and Praveen on the spot and leaving Yashwanth, Murthy and Naveen seriously injured. Sargur ASI Mahadevaiah  and staff, who rushed to the spot, shifted the bodies to H.D. Kote General Hospital mortuary and the injured to hospital.

The injured were provided treatment at Swami Vivekananda Hospital and were later shifted to JSS Hospital in Mysuru where Yashwanth succumbed to injuries this morning. Sargur Police, who have registered a case in this regard, are investigating.
