Five doctors get ‘Vaidya Bhaskar’ award
Mysuru: – As part of National Doctor’s Day, five renowned doctors were conferred ‘Vaidya Bhaskar’ award at a programme organised by the city’s Ayurveda Prachara Parishat Trust at the Institution of Engineers-India (IEI) on JLB Road here yesterday.
The awardees were cardiologist Dr. S.P. Yoganna of Suyog Hospital, Bharat Cancer Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. M.S. Vishweshwara, Government Ayuveda College-Mysuru faculty Dr. K.S. Radhakrishna Rama Rao, Mandagere Government Ayurveda Hospital Doctor H.P. Chandrashekar and Thyroid specialist from Ramanagaram Dr. H.S. Venkatesh.
Speaking after inaugurating the programme, Health and Family Welfare Department former Director Dr. D. Thimmaiah said that Dr. B.C. Roy, whose birth anniversary is celebrated as Doctor’s Day across the country, was among the top doctors of the country. Pointing out that Dr. B.C. Roy, apart from being a doctor par excellence, was also an able administrator and served as the second Chief Minister of West Bengal for years.
He called upon the doctors to give their best in serving the society.
Senior writer Prof. K. Bhyravamurthy was felicitated on the occasion of his 74th birthday.
Former Mysore Paints and Varnish Limited (MPVL) Chairman H.A. Venkatesh, former Kuvempu University Vice-Chancellor Dr. P. Venkataramaiah, Sandhya Suraksha Trust President Dr. B.R. Nataraj Jois, District Sharana Sahitya Parishat President M. Chandrashekar, Dr. M.G.R. Urs, Dharmadarshi P. Shantharaje Urs, Kaustubha Pathrike Editor Rathna Halappa Gowda and others were present.
