Mysore/Mysuru: A man has been arrested on charges of double murder over a petty issue in city, Police said this morning. The accused Yogesh (23) was arrested for allegedly killing T. Manjunath (33) and R. Manjunath (35) of Yedahalli village in the taluk, Police said.
The duo and another person Murthy were travelling in goods auto and Yogesh was travelling in passenger auto. A clash broke out between the two groups as the vehicles met with an accident, post which Yogesh stabbed T. Manjunath and R. Manjunath.
Details: T. Manjunath, the driver of a goods auto was travelling on the Mysuru-Manandavadi Road along with two passengers R. Manjunath and Murthy, to Kotehundi at about 7.30 pm yesterday. But on the way, the goods auto collided with an oncoming passenger auto near Kotehundi Gate at Jayapura Hobli.
After the accident in which no one was injured, a verbal duel broke out between the goods auto driver T. Manjunath and the passenger auto driver Yogesh of Parasayyanahundi. An enraged Yogesh repeatedly stabbed T. Manjunath and R. Manjunath with a knife while Murthy, the second passenger in the goods auto managed to escape.
Police said that the fight broke out as the goods auto was carrying passengers and Yogesh told Manjunath that he was violating rules which say only passenger autos are supposed to ferry people.
Due to severe bleeding caused by multiple stabbing, T. Manjunath died on the spot while R. Manjunath, said to be an employee of TVS Factory at Tandavapura, was rushed to K.R. Hospital in Mysuru, where he breathed his last sometime later.
Yogesh succeeded in fleeing from the spot after committing the crime even before nearby villagers could gather. He was, however, arrested this morning. Mysuru South Circle Police Inspector Jeevan conducted the mahazar. The Jayapura Police have registered a case.
