Mysore/Mysuru: Sechenov First Moscow State Medical (SMSM) University has assigned the official status of “Visiting Professor” to Dr. Basappa Salundi, Chairman, Department of Organic Chemistry, University of Mysore, Mysuru.
First Vice-Rector of SMSM University A.A. Svistunov officially named academic professionals from several countries, including Haiyan Hu (China), Jung Hwan Baek (South Korea) and Basappa Salundi (India).
The University’s official website states: “The status of ‘Visiting Professor of Sechenov University,’ which has existed since Nov. 15, 2025, is an honorary, lifelong title for recognised external specialists. It does not entail formal employment or salary, as Visiting Professors are not full-time employees. Attracting such world-class experts enhances the University’s prestige and builds a pool of loyal, leading scientists, and facilitates an increase in the number of publications and international grants.”
Dr. Basappa Salundi holds Ph.D (2005) from UoM and has post-doctoral research experience at Kobe Pharmaceutical University (2005), Hokkaido University (2006-09), National University of Singapore (2009-2011), Research Affiliate at MIT, USA and Meijo University, Japan.
He also served as a Registrar (Evaluation) and Deputy Registrar (Administration), at UoM.
