Mysuru: The Centenary celebrations of renowned yoga exponent Guruji Dr. BNS Iyengar will be held in Mysuru on Sept. 23 at 4 pm, organised by Samskriti Foundation, Mysuru, in association with Mysore Yoga Traditions, USA.
The programme will be held at 4 pm at Maharaja Sanskrit College and will commemorate Dr. Iyengar’s life and contributions to yoga, spiritual practice, scholarship and service. The celebrations will also highlight his role in preserving and propagating traditional yoga traditions.
A centenary felicitation volume titled ‘Yogi-Varenya,’ documenting the life, teachings and legacy of Dr. BNS Iyengar, will be released.
The volume features his approach to asana, mudra, pranayama, meditation and yoga philosophy. Eminent Sanskrit scholar Vid. H.V. Nagaraja Rao will release the volume. Krishnaraja MLA T.S. Srivatsa and Melukote MLA Darshan Puttannaiah will be the chief guests.
Internationally acclaimed yoga exponent Dr. K.L. Shankaranarayana Jois will preside. Dr P. Sathyanarayana, Principal of Maharaja Sanskrit College, will also be present.
The event will bring together scholars, yoga practitioners, students and members of public to commemorate the centenary and reflect on Dr. Iyengar’s contribution to traditional yoga.
