Dr. (Capt.) Thimmappiah Memorial All India Cricket Tournament: Punjab scores thumping victory

Excellent bowling by skipper Gurkeeret Mann (five for72) and ably supported by Arpit Pannu (two for 40), enabled Punjab CA to register a big 296-run win over Mumbai CA in their four-day Group ‘B’ league encounter in the Dr.(Capt.) K. Thimmappiah Memorial Tournament 2017 at the SDNR Wadiyar Stadium, here yesterday.

In the other match at JSS-SJCE grounds, Gujarat CA registered an outright win by a margin of 70-runs over Kerala CA and gained six points. Rujul Bhat’s five wicket haul (five for 59) enabled Gujarat to skittle out Kerala CA for 168 in 68.2 overs.

The scores: Punjab 311 in 91.2 overs & 324 for eight in 84 overs beat Mumbai CA 158 in 59.1 overs & 181 for nine in 53.1 overs (Jay Bista 54, Arman Jaffer 41, Gurkeeret Mann five for 72). Punjab CA- 6 points, Mumbai-0.

Gujarat CA 311 in 110.1 overs & 211 in 60.5 overs beat Kerala CA 284 in 82.2 overs & 168 in 68.2 overs (Jalaj Saxena 47, Vishnu Vinod 42, Rujul Bhat five for 59, Aashay Panchal three for 51). Gujarat CA-6 points, Kerala CA-0.
