Mysuru: Dr. Hiroya Fujisaki, Professor Emeritus, University of Tokyo, Japan, who is well-known throughout the world for his model for the process of fundamental frequency control in speech (Fujisaki Model), is visiting All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH), Mysuru, on Mar.19 and 20.
He will be delivering International Speech Communication Association (ISCA) distinguished lectures on two topics — 1. Fujisaki Model: Fundamentals and Applications; 2. Speech Perception – Mechanism and Processes. These lectures are scheduled at 2 pm on Mar. 19 and 20 respectively in the AIISH Seminar Hall, Academic Block.
Hiroya Fujisaki is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo and a Professor in the Department of Applied Electronics at the Science University of Tokyo. His research in speech and language processing covers a broad range of topics, including production, perception, acquisition, impairment, analysis, synthesis, coding, and recognition.
His work on mathematical and physical modelling has led to the development of models of language use, models for perceptual processes in speech identification and discrimination and models for the process of fundamental frequency control in speech.
Prof. Fujisaki is an Honorary Member of ISCA and of the Acoustical Society of Japan, a Fellow of the Acoustical Society of America, the Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers, and an inaugural Fellow of ISCA, a Life-Member of the Information Processing Society of Japan, a Member of the Engineering Academy of Japan, and a Corresponding Member of the Göttingen Academy of Sciences.
These lectures are open to all professionals and researchers.
Dr. S. R. Savithri, Director, AIISH and Prof. Ajish K. Abraham, Coordinator of the programme, will be present. For details contact Mob:98441-81080.
