Dr. G. Parameshwara mulls quitting Cabinet

Wants to continue as KPCC President

KPCC President and Home Minister Dr. G. Parameshwara, who seems to be more inclined to cling on to KPCC Chief’s post, is mulling on quitting the Siddharamaiah Cabinet.

Dr. Parameshwara is said to have made known his mind to AICC President Sonia Gandhi and Congress Party in-charge of Karnataka Digvijay Singh.

The KPCC Chief is said to have told the Party High Command that he is more interested in leading the Party in the 2018 Assembly polls and be allowed to continue as KPCC President.

He is also said to have informed the High Command that he was ready to quit as Home Minister and work for the Party.

Reminding the High Command of his efforts in leading the Party to victory in the 2013 Assembly polls, the Home Minister is learnt to have appealed Sonia Gandhi to continue him in the post for the 2018 polls as well.

Referring to the growing chorus for a dalit CM, Dr. Parameshwara is said to have apprised the High Command of the consequences if he was replaced as KPCC Chief at this juncture.

Dr. Parameshwara, who initially aspired to become Deputy CM, later became the Home Minister. But as he reportedly did not get the freedom he wanted in the Home Department, he is learnt to have made up his mind on giving up the Home Minister’s post and cling on to the KPCC President’s post and lead the Party in the 2018 Assembly elections.
