Dr. Gita Gopinath to deliver lecture in Mysuru on May 20

Mysore: Dr. Gita Gopinath, Chief Economist, International Monetary Fund (IMF), will deliver a lecture on the topic ‘The challenges of globalisation,’ as part of JSS Mahavidyapeetha’s Ninth Endowment Lecture Series, at Sri Rajendra Centenary Hall in JSS Hospital premises at 10.30 am on May 20.

Profile: Dr. Gita Gopinath, an Indian-American economist, is the John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University. She is also a Co-Director of the International Finance and Macroeconomics programme at the National Bureau of Economic Research and has worked as the Economic Adviser to the Chief Minister of Kerala.

Gita Gopinath was appointed as Chief Economist of the IMF in October 2018. Her research focuses on International Finance and Macroeconomics.

Gita’s parents are from Kerala but settled in Mysuru in the early 1970s. Her father T.V. Gopinath is an Industrialist and her mother Vijayalakshmi runs a play home in Kuvempunagar, Mysuru.
