Dr. H.R.N. Murthy, Surgeon Captain (retd.), a retired Officer of the Defence Services and the eldest son of late Dr. H.G Rangaiyengar, passed away in city this morning. He was 97.
Armed with a degree from Mysore Medical College, he joined the Indian Army, served the nation on the frontiers, had a long stint in the Indian Navy before retiring as the Commanding Officer of INHS Sanjeevani in Cochin.
He continued service to society at the CFTRI dispensary, apart from being the go-to family doctor for the entire HGR family and friends.
A resident of Saraswathipuram in Mysuru, he is survived by his wife Sriranga Murthy, son, two daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchild, brothers, sister and a host of relatives and friends.
Last rites were performed at the foot of Chamundi Hill today, according to family sources.
