Mysore/Mysuru: Renowned Kannada writer and novelist Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa of Mysuru was conferred with the prestigious Amrita Keerti Award by Sri Mata Amritanandamayi Devi at the Amritapuri Ashram in Kollam during Amma’s 70th birthday celebrations “Amritavarsham 70” on Oct. 3.
The Amrita Keerti Puraskar is a prestigious annual award, presented by Mata Amritanandamayi Math. It recognises individuals who have made exceptional contributions to Indian culture and Vedic traditions. The award celebrates their significant role in preserving human values and ancient Indian culture.
The award, comprising a cash prize of Rs. 1,23,456, includes an intricately crafted idol of Goddess Saraswati along with an accompanying certificate. This symbolises the profound connection to knowledge and wisdom embodied by the esteemed recipients.
Alongside Dr. S.L. Bhyrappa, the prestigious award was conferred upon renowned Vedic scholar Prof. SreevarahamChandrasekharan Nair; luminary in Vedic literature Acharya Rajesh; and former Vice-Chancellor of Sree Sankaracharya Sanskrit University Dr. K.S. Radhakrishnan for the years 2020, 2021, 2022 and 2023.
The awards ceremony was held in the presence of notable dignitaries such as Arif Mohammad Khan, Kerala Governor and Ashwini Kumar Chaubey, Union Minister of State for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs.
Distinguished delegates representing 193 nations from the United Nations, as well as thousands of devotees from across the globe, attended the “Amritavarsham 70” event.
