Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar to inaugurate annual event at Suttur Mutt, foot of Chamundi Hill
Mysuru: The 111th Jayanti Mahotsava of Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji, the previous pontiff of Suttur Mutt, has been organised tomorrow (Aug. 29) at 10.30 am at Suttur Mutt, foot of Chamundi Hill in city.
Addressing media persons yesterday, JSS Mahavidyapeetha Executive Secretary Dr. C.G. Betsurmath said, ahead of the inauguration, a procession has been organised at 8.45 am from JSS College on Ooty Road, from where the bust of Sri Rajendra Swamiji will be taken on a robotic elephant up to Suttur Mutt.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar will inaugurate the Jayanti in the presence of Suttur Mutt Seer Sri Shivarathri Deshikendra Swamiji, Siddaganga Mutt Seer Sri Siddalinga Swamiji, junior pontiff of Avadhoota Datta Peetham Sri Datta Vijayananda Theertha Swamiji and Kengeri Vishwa Vokkaliga Mahasamsthana Mutt Seer Dr. Sri Nischalanandanatha Swamiji. Former Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will preside.
Deputy Chief Minister Dr. G. Parameshwar will give a kick-start to JSS Vignana Vahini while Urban Development Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah, also Mysuru District In-charge, will release the second edition of ‘Rajendra Nudinamana’ book.
Mysuru-Kodagu MP Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar will release special edition of ‘Prasada’ magazine and Chamarajanagar MP Sunil Bose will release the special edition of JSS Monthly Newsletter.
Former Minister Dr. H.C. Mahadevappa will release the book ‘Nammodanidda Daiva Pujya Rajendra Sri’ and Animal Husbandry Minister C. Puttaranga Shetty will release the book ‘Man With Divinity Pujya Rajendra Sri.’
MLAs G.T. Devegowda, Tanveer Sait, T.S. Srivatsa, K. Harishgowda, A.R. Krishnamurthy, G.D. Harish Gowda, Anil Chikkamadu, H.M. Ganesh Prasad, D. Ravishankar and Darshan Dhruvanarayan, MLCs Dr. D. Thimmaiah, C.N. Manjegowda, K. Vivekananda, R. Raghu Kautilya and Madhu G. Madegowda will be the chief guests.
Prizes will be distributed to the best annual magazines of schools and colleges and essay contest conducted under the aegis of Prasada magazine. JSS Alumni Association will distribute student scholarship to the talented students of the hostels.
Continuing with the past tradition, the subordinate institutions of JSS Mahavidyapeetha will be celebrating the Jayanti, followed by several other organisations and associations and the general public, along with organising free health check-up camps.
Fruits will be distributed at hospitals, saplings will be planted at schools and colleges, seminars will be organised, along with sports tournament, distribution of note books, bags, uniforms and stationery items to students.
Awareness sessions about eye donation, blood donation, organ donation and cadaver donation are also organised, besides allowing the interested persons to register their names.
At 3 pm, retired employees of JSS Mahavidyapeetha will be felicitated. A total of 115 employees have retired this year and 51 among them have been relieved from service while 13 among them died on duty.
The top three students of educational institutions of JSS Mahavidyapeetha, who performed exceptionally well in the recent SSLC and PUC exams, will be honoured with Prathiba Puraskar.
JSS Mahavidyapeetha Secretary S.P. Shivakumara Swamy, Director of JSS College Education Division Prof. Morabada Mallikarjuna and Deputy Director Niranjan Murthy were present at the press meet.
