Dr. Usha Hegde flags off 5-km marathon in city

Dr. Usha Hegde, the first woman from Mysuru to complete ‘Ironman’ event, flagged off the 5-km marathon organised by Mysuru Pharma Forum here on June 26.

Observing that maintaining a good health is key in these days of modernity, Dr. Usha Hegde said that a brisk walk of about 45 minutes a day is a must in these days of stressful life. Pointing out that engaging in sports and a daily walk will largely help in maintaining our health amid changing lifestyles, she said that along with physical health, it is also important that we maintain our mental health.

Doing regular exercises must become a routine for everyone for ensuring a sound health and body fitness, she added.

University of Mysore Department of Physical Education former Director Dr. P. Krishnaiah, who also spoke, highlighted the benefits of each of the sports.

Vishwas of Aerobic team gave a demonstration on fitness to the participants.

Mysuru Pharma Forum President Sudheendra, athlete (runner) Mahesh and others were present. Prizes were distributed to the winners of the marathon.
