Dr. Y.S. Jayalakshmi (84), retired Professor of Pathology, Mysore Medical College, passed away this morning, at her residence in Gokulam here.

She had served in the Army, in the rank of Captain, serving at Military Hospital, Lucknow and General Hospital, Jammu. After retirement from the Government service, she also worked in Adichunchanagiri Institute of Medical Sciences at Bellur, Karnataka.

She leaves behind her husband and only daughter, who is in the USA, and a host of relatives.

Last rites will be held at Chirashantidhama in Gokulam today, according to family sources.
