Dr. Yathindra takes stock of Dasara venue works

Mysuru: With five days to go for the Dasara inauguration, District Minister Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah arrived in Mysuru by road from Bengaluru this morning and inspected ongoing development works and preparations for the festival.

He travelled by bus along with MLAs, MLCs, officers and other party leaders. After completing the inspection and review of Dasara preparations, he left for Bengaluru. The District Minister began his visit by inaugurating his office at the Zilla Panchayat (ZP) premises.

He then visited the Maharaja College Grounds, the venue for the Aahaara Mela, and reviewed the preparations. He instructed officials to provide shelter and drinking water for visitors.

He also directed them to ensure cleanliness by clearing garbage regularly, making arrangements to prevent dust and maintaining hygiene in the food prepared at the Aahaara Mela.

Later, Dr. Yathindra inspected the railway underpass works at Royal Inn Junction and the ongoing road asphalting works. He directed officials to complete all works in the area before the Dasara festivities, as the junction is an important entry point to the city.

He also inspected the asphalting works on Old Kesare Road near Varuna Canal, which connects to the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway. Speaking to Star of Mysore, Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah said the Government had taken up road development works to prevent traffic congestion during the Dasara season.

“The road works connecting Old Kesare Road near Varuna Canal to the Bengaluru-Mysuru Highway will be completed today,” he said. Dr. Yathindra also reviewed preparations at the Yuva Dasara venue and atop Chamundi Hill.

He was accompanied by MLA K. Harishgowda, MLCs Dr. D. Thimmaiah and K. Shivakumar, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy and officials from various Departments.

Minister travels by bus…but followers take cars

To avoid a convoy of vehicles following the District Minister during his inspection, Deputy Commissioner G. Lakshmikanth Reddy suggested that the sites be visited in a bus. Dr. Yathindra Siddaramaiah agreed to the suggestion.

However, some of his followers continued to follow the bus in four-wheelers despite the DC’s request not to do so.

During the journey, one of the cars following the bus was hit from behind by another car and was damaged. The District Minister left for Bengaluru by road after completing his inspections.
