‘Drama for Autism’ held

Mysuru: Mysore District Parents Association for Empowering Developmentally Disabled (MDPAEDD) had organised a programme called ‘Drama for Autism’ at Dhvanyaloka recently. The event was conducted by Dr. Parasuram Ramamoorthy, an internationally acclaimed Theatre Director and a pioneer in the field of Drama for Autism who works closely with persons in the Autism spectrum.

Dr. Ramamoorthy facilitates the use of drama and techniques of drama to help children and adults with autism. These aspects improve eye contact and thereby promote communication skills. It engages both children and adults in an innovative blend of social interaction, role play and fantasy. These theatre-based techniques help to build one’s self-image and self-confidence.

Ajit Bharathan, President, MDPAEDD, welcomed. Hon.Secretary K.S Nair, Vice-President. K.R Nagaraj, Governing Council members attended the workshop along with members of other Associations, parents of persons with developmental disabilities and Special Educators from JSS Sahana, Mathrumandali and Swasahaya  Samuchhaya.
