Draw special plan to provide basic amenities to new layouts

Mysore/Mysuru: Former Mayor Sandesh Swamy has stressed the need for formulating a special plan for providing basic amenities to all layouts handed over to Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) in the interest of residents.

In a press release here, he said it was happy to note that Co-operation and District Minister S.T. Somashekar and MUDA Chairman H.V. Rajeev are showing keen interest in providing basic facilities to layouts such as Vijayanagar 4th stage, R.T. Nagar and Shanthaveri Gopalagowda Nagar which were formed decades ago. Likewise, the MCC handed over layouts such as Dattagalli, Shakthinagar, JSS Layout, Vidyashankar Layout, RMS Layouts formed by MUDA and around 140 layouts formed by private developers which were in need of basic amenities.

Power supply cut

Swamy said the Chamundeshwari Electrical Supply Company Limited (CESC) has disconnected power supply in Vidyashankar Layout yesterday. No facility had been provided even to those layouts handed over to the MCC long ago. Rules say only fully developed layouts must be handed over to urban local body but it was not followed.

As many as 143 new layouts have been handed over to the MCC in 2016-17 and the plight of residents was pitiable. Understanding the predicament of residents, the MCC and MUDA must jointly work out a plan to provide basic facilities to all layouts, he added.
