Mysore/Mysuru: Lalitha High School, Mysuru, an unaided school run under the aegis of South Western Railway (SWR) Women’s Welfare Organisation, had organised Science Day in the School premises on KRS Road, near Votikoppal Temple, here recently.
Children from nursery to tenth standard demonstrated over 60 projects, a majority of them working models.
The themes for the projects included conservation of water and ecology, global warming, renewable sources of energy, perils of single use plastics and other basic scientific principles which revolutionised the human history in the last 3-4 centuries.
Rahul Agarwal, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), SWR, Mysuru, declared the Science Day open and took a tour of the projects to understand the scientific spirit of the students.
He exhorted the students to inculcate the habit of enquiry to be at the forefront of innovation. He mentioned the great contributions of young scientists of the country becoming self-reliant in many spheres.
Pooja Agarwal, President, SWR Women’s Welfare Organisation, called upon the School faculty to encourage the students to play an important role in adopting technologies backed by science to remove backwardness and superstitions in the society.
Vinayak R. Naik and E. Vijaya, Additional DRMs, School Management Committee members and other senior Railway Officials were present on the occasion.
