Durga Puja 2022

Bengali culture has found its place in Mysuru, which is famous worldwide for its Dasara celebrations. “Mahishuru” or “Mahishasurana Ooru” is associated with Devi Bhagavatha.

According to a story of Devi Purana, the city was ruled by the buffalo-headed demon Mahishasura. Goddess Chamundeshwari killed the monster on top of the hill near Mysuru. This place is later today known as Chamundi Hill.

During the Sharad month of Bengali calendar, in the Devi Paksha, Durga Puja is celebrated by Bengalis the world over by Akal Bodhon of Devi Durga; it is also celebrated as Navartri — Ram Leela, Garbha, in other parts of the country.

This year Bengali Association’s celebrations will last for 5 days. Devotees can visit Anjaneyaswamy Temple near CFTRI compound, KRS Road.

Puja will be done along with some cultural programmes and celebrations from Association members and their family.

We have a special performance by the Bengali folk band “Achin Pakhi” on Oct. 4 from 7.30 pm onwards.
