Mysore/Mysuru: Bengali Association Mysuru is celebrating ‘Durga Puja,’ the religious and cultural festival for 17th year in a row from Oct. 20 to 24. It starts in autumn season with prayer and worship of Mother Durga for happiness to one and all.
Maa Durga is the destroyer of all Durgati and known as Durgati Nashini. The worship signifies the victory over evil and sorrow. The festival starts from Mahalaya and Puja from Oct. 20 to 23 by bisorjon (immersion of idol).
Daily Puja will be performed in the morning followed by community lunch. In the evenings, there will be sandya aarati, dhunochi naach (dance), cultural programmes and dinner.

Oct. 21: Saptami Tithi till 7.21 pm; 9 am – Saptami – Nabapatrika Sthapana, 10.30 am – Saptami Puja Pushpanjali; 7.30 pm – Aarti.
Oct. 22: Ashtami Tithi till 5.18 pm; 9 am – Maha Ashtami – Pushpanjali; 10 am – Bhog Prasad Bitoran; 11 am – Aarti; 4.54 pm to 5.42 pm – Sandhi Puja; 7.30 pm – Cultural Programme.
