DVG and BGL Swamy Awards presentation

Mysore/Mysuru: DVG Balaga Pratishtana, Mysuru, has organised ‘DVG and BGL Swamy Awards Presentation Ceremony’ at BSS Vidyodaya in Krishnamurthypuram here tomorrow (Mar. 22) .

10 am: The DVG Award will be conferred on K. Natarajan, tranlator of ‘Jeevanadharma Yoga’ and ‘Mankutimmana Kagga.’ Swami Mangalanathanandaji, President, Sri Ramakrishna Vivekananda Kendra, Ballari, will be the chief guest. S.T. Radhakrishna, retd. Technical Director, Commerce and Industry Department, will be the guest. Dr. M.R. Sitharam, Advisor, Swami Vivekananda Youth Movement (SVYM), will preside.

2 pm: The BGL Swamy Award will be conferred on Kollegala Sharma, Science Communicator and Writer. K. Natarajan, BGL Swamy’s relative and DVG’s grandson, will be the chief guest. T.G. Srinidhi of Egnana.Com and Science Writer, will be the guest. Praveenakumar Sayyapparaju, Deputy CEO, SVYM, will preside.

C. Kanakaraju, Founder, DVG Balaga Pratishtana, will be present on both the occasions.

DVG Balaga Pratishtana has been actively engaged in promotion and propagation of the literary works of D.V. Gundappa (DVG) for the past 17 years. The organisation, instituted the DVG Award in his honour and has, to date, felicitated 10 distinguished individuals for their meritorious contributions to Kannada literature and related fields.

DVG Award 2026 Awardee K. Natarajan is the translator of DVG’s celebrated works ‘Jeevanadharma Yoga’ and ‘Mankutimmana Kagga’ into the English language. Notably, he is the grandson of DVG himself, making this recognition a tribute that transcends generations.

The organisation instituted the BGL Swamy Award in 2018. The inaugural award was conferred upon T.S. Channesh, Founder of the Centre for Public Understanding of Science, in recognition of his distinguished contributions to botany, agriculture and science communication.

BGL Swamy Award Recipient Kollegala Sharma is a scientist, prolific Kannada science writer and the Founder-Editor of Kutuhali, a popular Kannada science monthly magazine. The BGL Swamy Award is being reinstated this year to honour his invaluable contribution to science communication in the Kannada language.
