Dy.SP M.K. Ganapathy suicide case: K.J. George need not resign, says CM

Bengaluru: Chief Minister Siddharamaiah yesterday rejected the BJP’s demand for the resignation of Bengaluru Development Minister K.J. George in the backdrop of CBI registering an FIR against the Minister in connection with the alleged suicide of Dy.SP M.K.Ganapathy.

Hitting back at the BJP, Siddharamaiah accused it of misusing the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for political gains.

Asserting that there was no need for George to resign as he was re-inducted into the Ministry  after the CID filed a ‘B’ report cleaning the charges against him, he questioned the significance of the FIR registered by the CBI as it is the same as the one registered at Kushalnagar Police Station.

Rejecting the BJP’s argument that George should resign again as he could influence the investigation and tamper with evidence, Siddharamaiah maintained that George is no more the Home Minister of the State and questioned the BJP leaders how George could influence the CBI which is under the BJP-led Union Government.

With the Assembly polls nearing, the BJP wants to take political mileage by tarnishing the image of State Government and George, he alleged.
