Ease traffic on Sayyaji Rao Road

Sir,

The report “Chaotic traffic on Sayyaji Rao Road”  (SOM dated July 4) surprises the citizens of this city! Your reporter has presented a clear picture of how unruly road-users are taking the law-abiding people to ransom.

Sayyaji Rao Road is not the only road, the whole of the city traffic is in a total mess. People feel, Traffic Police have forgotten their duties and concentrate only on collecting penalty. Most of the traffic signals are either removed or are non-functional. Two-wheeler riders and auto drivers are the major culprits.

Unplanned digging of roads for repairs, particularly during rainy season, debris and other materials not cleared and scattered haphazardly pose serious threat to road-users.

Tractor menace on city roads is threatening the lives of road- users. Do we need to ask why Mysuru did not get the clean city tag for the third time?  We have to question, why public functionaries have become insensitive? How long we can go on talking of past glory?
