ECHO OF NANJANGUD BY-ELECTION

Mysuru/ Nanjangud  – Many teachers, who have been appointed to supervise and conduct the ongoing SSLC examinations in Nanjangud, may have to leave their homes at the break of dawn tomorrow to make arrangements for the exam at schools that were used as polling booths.

Of the 18 SSLC exam centres in Nanjangud, eight are also polling stations for the by-election for which the voting began this morning. Tomorrow the SSLC third language paper exam will begin at 9.30 am and teachers have to ensure that the class-rooms are arranged and registration numbers are marked on desks.

Today being the polling day, the voting will be held till 5 pm and the booth officials and returning officers will have to de-assemble the Electronic Voting machines, control units and the Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT), pack them and take them to JSS First Grade College on the Deveerammanahalli Village Road in Nanjangud where the strong room has been set up.

By the time the packing process is over it will be midnight and teachers who have been deputed to conduct the SSLC exam at eight centres will have to ensure that the preparations are completed at least by 8 am tomorrow.

Speaking to Star of Mysore this morning, Deputy Director of Public Instructions H.R. Basappa said that he had asked the examination staff to ensure that the register numbers are entered on the desks early. “Teachers have been told to arrive at the exam centres early. We are prepared for this and conducting the examination smoothly will not be an issue,” he said.
