- ED raids conclude after 21 hours; Lady instructed by ED officials to provide certain documents within 15 days
Mysuru: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) raid on retired lady Excise Inspector Yamuna, residing at Dattagalli in the city, went on for 21 hours, from early morning hours of yesterday to wee hours of today.
The raid was a part of concerted operation carried out by ED officials from Bengaluru and Goa, on six places connected to Additional Commissioner of Excise, Belagavi division, Dr. Y. Manjunath, across the State, including the one in Mysuru city.
Manjunath, who had previously served as Excise DC in Mysuru, between 2009 and 2013, is accused of possessing benami properties, liquor licences, besides running bar and restaurants in nexus with his associates.
Yamuna, who took voluntary retirement from the service in the year 2025, after serving Excise Department for 21 years, is believed to be closely associated with Dr. Manjunath.
The raid began at her house at about 5.30 am yesterday and concluded at 2 am today, during the course of which the ED carried out extensive searches at her house, besides questioning her as part of the inquiry and taking her to bank, to collect details related to her bank accounts and lockers, if any.
As the raids began at the crack of dawn, it is said that the ED teams had arrived in the city, a day in advance.
Speaking to Star of Mysore (SOM) exclusively at the door of her house, this morning, Yamuna, who appeared unfazed, said “The ED raided my house, for the only reason that I and Manjunath knew each other. No incriminating documents were found either at home or bank. It seems ED has been misled.”
The raid took prolonged hours, as every other details have to be recorded as part of the mahazar procedure, she added.
“The ED officers have given 15 days time to produce certain records at their office in Bengaluru,” said Yamuna.
Taking exception to the reports in a section of media, Yamuna said, “It’s my own house. There were some reports about myself and my mother arrested in the case. We are very much here but some reports stated that we have been taken into custody. Such reports are really disturbing.”
