Eid Meelad-un-Nabi to be celebrated this evening

Mysore/Mysuru: Eid Meelad-un-Nabi, the birthday of Prophet Mohammed, is being celebrated all over in city today and the Central Meelad Committee has organised the celebrations at Meelad Park on Ashoka Road at 7 pm today.

Since yesterday night, recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and lectures on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed was held at various mosques across the city. Tabarruk (breakfast) was arranged at 6.30 am today at various mosques.

Sir Khazi of Mysuru Hazrath Moulana Mohamed Usman Shariff will preside. Hazrath Moulana Syed Shahabuddin Nadvi, Moulana Riaz Ahmed, Hon. Secretary of the Board of Islamic Education Karnataka, Moulana Mufthi Mohamed Sulthan Qasmi, Moulana Dr. Mohamed Haziq Nadvi will speak on the life and teachings of Prophet Mohammed.

Various tableaux, prepared by various Meelad Committee and Masjids were taken on a                          procession from Meelad Park in the afternoon, which passed through Meena Bazar, Sawday Road, Savoy Chowk and culminated at Dr. Zakir Hussain Circle (Mission Hospital Circle).

Namaz-e-Isha will be held at 10 pm at Masjid-e-Azam on Ashoka Road, according to press release from MLA Tanveer Sait, who is also the President of the Central Meelad Committee.
