Hassan: A day after the incident, Hassan Police on Thursday arrested eight persons for the attack on Hassan BJP MLA Preetham Gowda’s Residence here, in which one person sustained injuries.

All the arrested are JD(S) workers and leaders. The arrested have been identified as Hassan ZP member Swaroop, Hassan CMC members Prashanth and Girish, former member Bhanuprakash, former CMC President Anil Kumar, and party leaders Kamal Kumar, Jagadish and Chandru Katihalli.

They were accused of pelting stones at the residence of BJP MLA Preetham Gowda on Wednesday, after an audio clip in which Preetham Gowda purportedly made insulting remarks against JD(S) supremo H.D. Deve Gowda and CM H.D. Kumaraswamy went viral. But Preetham Gowda had denied saying that the voice was not his.

It may be mentioned here that a BJP delegation led by Opposition leader B.S. Yeddyurappa met Governor Vajubhai R. Vala at Raj Bhavan, Bengaluru on Thursday and petitioned him seeking action against the State Government for the attack on Preetham Gowda’s Hassan residence.
