Mysuru: Even as Kodagu continues to reel under the havoc caused by rain fury, over 80 Pourakarmikas (civic workers) from the city left for Kodagu yesterday to be part of rescue and relief operations going on there.
MCC Commissioner K.H. Jagadeesha said that as Kodagu has been devastated by floods and landslides and life across the district thrown out of gear, the Mysuru District Administration taking note of the plight of the people there, decided to send 80 Pourakarmikas for assisting rescue teams in evacuating roads, ensuring proper sanitation etc.
Pointing out that 173 persons have contributed to MCC’s donation drive in the form of relief materials, Jagadeesha said that two loads of food articles, clothes, water bottles, vessels and other items of daily use have been despatched to Kodagu for distribution among the victims.
