Elder Citizens undergo ENT check-up

Mysuru:  Elder Citizens Council in association with All India Institute of Speech and Hearing (AIISH) conducted an ENT check-up camp for senior citizens recently at its Saraswathi Samudaya Bhavana in Jayalakshmipuram.

Experts from AIISH gave detailed reasons for hearing loss, blocking of ears due to cold, nasal block, damages to ear drums by using sharp materials. They advised them to avoid such practices and urged people to consult a qualified doctor in case they faced hearing problems. 

They also advised the participants to visit AIISH for a detailed check-up and get a hearing aid fixed for those with hearing impairment. The experts provided details with respect to costing of the hearing aids and added that the Institute provided hearing aids at reasonable price and also free of cost to some BPL card holders. 

About 30 members of public took part in the check-up camp out of which majority of them were members of Elder Citizens Council. A couple of patients, who underwent check-up were also provided hearing aids free of cost by AIISH. 

Speaking on the occasion, Elder Citizens Council President Krishnappa Gowda called upon the public with hearing impairment to make good use of the camp and get access to better facilities in life. 

Members who were present included N.G. Krishnamurthy, Susheela Marigowda, Gowdappa, Vidyanand, Seetharamaiah, Pradeep Kumar, K.V. Ramanath, Latha, A.N. Achar, Venkateshaiah and others.
