Elderly man jumps into Kapila River

Nanjangud: A 67-year-old man committed suicide by jumping into Kapila River near D. Devaraj Urs Bridge in Nanjangud.

The deceased is Chandrashekar, a former employee of Sri Srikanteshwara Temple and a resident of R.P. Road here. It is learnt that Chandrashekar was suffering from Asthma and depressed over this he is said to have taken the extreme step.

Circle Inspector Lakshmikanth Talawar, Rural Sub-Inspector Satish and staff visited the spot. The body was fished out by Fire and Emergency Service personnel and was shifted to the General Hospital for post-mortem.

Chandrashekar’s son Kantharaju has lodged a complaint at Nanjangud Rural Police Station.
