Somwarpet: An elderly couple was found dead after a gunshot incident at the remote Kumbargadige village near Madapura in Somwarpet taluk of Kodagu district.
The deceased have been identified as Subbaiah (74) and his wife Bojamma (72), of the Kannikanda family.
According to preliminary information, Subbaiah allegedly shot his wife with a single-barrel firearm before turning the gun on himself.
The exact circumstances leading to the incident and the motive are yet to be ascertained.
On receiving information, Kodagu District Superintendent of Police (SP) R.N. Bindu Mani visited the spot and conducted an inspection.
Somwarpet Police have registered a case and are investigating the incident. The exact cause of the couple’s deaths will be established following the investigation.
