Elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry

Mysuru: Prof. K. Byrappa, Vice-Chancellor, Mangalore University, has been elected as Fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (FRSC), London, UK, in recognition of his academic contribution  to the field of Chemistry. He is the first academician from Mangalore University to receive this honour.

A renowned researcher and former Chairman of the Department of Earth Science, University of Mysore, Prof. Byrappa has been honoured with many fellowships.  In April 2017, he was elected as the Fellow of the Asia Pacific Academy of Materials during its annual meeting held in Japan. In the same meeting he was also elected as the Secretary General of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials.

During January 2017, he was honoured with Sir C.V. Raman birth centenary Gold Medal by the Prime Minister of India in recognition of his contribution to science and technology.  He is the second Kannadiga to get this honour after Dr. C.N.R. Rao.

In 2010, Prof. Byrappa was elected as a Fellow of the World Academy of Ceramics at the biennial convention held in Italy.
