Election Commission holds meeting with top officials in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: The Election Commission, which has begun preparations for the forthcoming Karnataka Assembly polls, started zonal-wise preparations by holding  a meeting with Deputy Commissioners, top Police Officers and other top officials at Bengaluru recently.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) Officers, who have held first round meeting at Mysuru and Kalaburagi, conducted a similar meeting with officials of Bengaluru Division,  during which the Officers held talks with DCs, SPs and DCPs coming under the Division, on the poll preparations.

Taking note of the ECI guidelines, poll preparations have to begin six months before election and accordingly, the Election Commission officers are conducting meetings, with top officials of the districts coming under the respective Division.

During the meetings, the EC officials are said to have recalled the incidents that took place during the last Assembly polls and the security measures that need to be taken for preventing any such untoward incidents.

The EC officers directed the officials to prepare a list of sensitive and hyper-sensitive booths coming under the jurisdiction of every Police Station and to ensure free and fair polls in all the booths.
