Election Comr. directs DC to begin preparations for Assembly polls

Mysuru: State Election Commissioner (SEC) P. Srinivasachari has reportedly directed the Mysuru Deputy Commissioner to begin preparations for the 2018 Assembly polls in right earnest.

In a letter written to DC D. Randeep, Srinivasachari has instructed the DC to hold video conference on the election preparedness measures.

The SEC has also asked the DC to hold meetings with the MCC Commissioner and all Tahsildars of the District in this regard and submit a report to the State Election Commission before Aug.21.

The SEC has also directed the DC to oversee revision of voters’ list, rectification of errors in electoral rolls, reddressal of complaints regarding voter list, preparation of list for appointment of BLOs and Supervisors for election process, disposal of applications seeking fresh inclusion in electoral rolls, establishment of new poll booths based on demand and such other polls related works.

The SEC has also instructed the DC to ensure that the staff of the election branch are assigned no other work, so that their election-related work is not hindered. The SEC further said that the report should include review of poll booths, measures on providing necessary infrastructure, list of poll materials available at the office, Government servants in the respective taluk who can be deployed for election work, details of vacant posts in election branch and appointment of computer operators for poll work.
