Election to 14 ULBs on Nov.12

Bengaluru: Even as the by-polls to 15 Assembly segments in the State is scheduled to take place on Dec.5, the State Election Commission on Sunday announced that the elections to 14 Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) in the State will be held on Nov.12.

The fourteen Local Bodies include two City Corporations (Davanagere and Mangaluru), six City Municipal Councils (CMCs), three Town Municipal Councils (TMCs) and three Town Panchayaths, in which about 13 lakh voters will elect their representatives in 418 Wards. The 14 ULBs are in the nine districts of Ramanagaram, Davangere, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Shivamogga, Chikkamagaluru, Dakshina Kannada, Dharwad and Ballari.

The Commission also announced by-polls to five seats — three in CMCs and one each in TMC and Town Panchayat — that have fallen vacant due to the death of members. 

By-elections will also be held to a vacant seat in Chamarajanagar Zilla Panchayat and Ward No.19 of Kollegal CMC.

The results of the elections and by-elections will be declared on Nov.14.
