Mysuru: A tigress, which had created panic among villagers living in border of Metikuppe Forest Range in Nagarahole Reserve Forest was trapped at Agasanahundi village this morning.
Following complaints from the villagers, the Forest Department personnel had placed a cage in the village and the tigress is said to have walked into the cage.
Meanwhile, the villagers staged a protest demanding the Forest officials to provide compensation to them for cattle loss before shifting the trapped tigress. It is learnt that the tigress would be brought to Mysuru and would be housed at Chamundi Animal Conservation, Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre at Koorgalli where it would be kept under observation before deciding on the future course of action.
Sources said that the tigress was tranquillized by the Veterinarian to know whether the tigress, aged between 3 and 4 years had sustained any injuries which requires treatment. Forest Department Veterinarian Dr. Mujeeb and RFO Sharan Basappa and other officials visited the spot.
