Mysore/Mysuru: “Artificial Intelligence (AI) is invading all sectors at the moment. Doctors must come forward to make use of technologies based on AI,” advised Dr. Sachin Gandhi, Founding President of the Laryngology and Voice Association (LVA).
Dr. Gandhi was speaking after inaugurating the 3-day ‘Laryngology Summit-2024’ and the 12th Annual Conference of the Laryngology and Voice Association, hosted by the Department of ENT and Head and Neck Surgery at JSS Medical College and Hospital, Mysuru, at the Sri Rajendra Centenary Auditorium, JSS Hospital, recently.
“Doctors often believe they have performed surgeries precisely. However, AI technology might suggest that an incision should have been two inches longer. Therefore, doctors must show interest in learning new technologies and shed the tendency to ignore them. They should not feel that the latest technology is only for the present generation. They must be eager to learn new technologies,” Dr. Gandhi emphasised.
He also mentioned that the Laryngology and Voice Association has started online spiritual classes and courses to improve interpersonal relations. “We also organise interaction programs with experts from the University of Chicago every three months,” he added.
Dr. B. Suresh, Pro-Chancellor of JSS Academy of Higher Education & Research, Mysuru, presided over the inaugural event. He highlighted the frequent advancements in the medical and pharmaceutical fields, urging doctors to keep track of these developments.
“With the continuous improvements and upgrades in available technology, it is possible to provide the best treatment to patients,” he opined.
President of LVA, Dr. S. Thirunavukkarasu, Organising Committee President Dr. M.B. Bharati, Dr. Dinesh Sheshappa, Dr. A.R. Babu, Dr. B.S. Rakesh, Academic Chairman Dr. Suhail Hasan, and other senior doctors were also present.
