Emergency Medical kits distributed to Zoos in Karnataka

Mysuru:  The Zoo Authority of Karnataka (ZAK) has distributed emergency Medical kits to Shivamogga, Gadag and Ballari Zoos.

The Directors of the Zoos expressed the paucity of medical equipment which are required during the emergency situations in the Zoos as well as adjacent areas of Forest Divisions for preventing man-animal conflict in rescued areas and for conservation purpose.

They had made this demand at a three-day workshop being conducted by the Mysuru Zoo from Mar.23 to25.

In this connection, B.P. Ravi, Addl. Principal Chief Conservator of Forests and Member-Secretary, ZAK, had directed C. Ravishankar, Deputy Conservator of Forests and Executive Director, Mysuru Zoo, to purchase required medicines and medical equipments to distribute it to the three Zoos.

Accordingly, emergency Medical Kit comprising essential medicines, tranquillising equipment for capturing wild animals, syringes, ropes, nylon net, helmets and leather glows required for protection of staff were purchased.

Chairperson of ZAK, Mallige Veeresh, distributed the kits to the Zoo Directors on Mar.22, according to a release from C. Ravishankar.
