Mysuru: A delegation led by Mysore Grahakara Parishat (MGP) and Kukkarahalli Ulisu Group has demanded eviction of encroachments including demolition of illegal buildings on Poornaiah Canal in Sharadadevinagar here.

The delegation, led by MGP Secretary M.M. Shenoi, submitted a memorandum in this regard to Deputy Commissioner D. Randeep at his office here this morning.

They alleged that Poornaiah Canal had been encroached in Sharadadevinagar and Railway Layout with people constructing houses on the Canal.

He said though the DC had ordered the official concerned to stop the construction works, no action had been initiated as the works were still in progress even yesterday (see pic).  Demanding for action against the official, the MGP has also urged the Deputy Commissioner to take measures for restoration of Poornaiah Canal and enable easy flow of water into the Kukkarahalli Lake.

MGP President Saokar, Working President S. Sobana, Executive Committee Member Ko.Su. Narasimhamurthy, Convenor Bhamy Shenoy, Maj. Gen. (retd.) S.G. Vombatkere, Leela Venkatesh and Kukkarahalli Ulisu Committee Member Shylesh were in the delegation.
