Husband, in-laws booked by Women’s Police in city
Mysore/Mysuru: A woman, alleging dowry harassment and murder threat by her husband and in-laws has lodged a complaint against them at Women’s Police Station in the city.
The woman is 26-year-old C.K. Amulya, a resident of Rajarajeswarinagar in the city.
A BE graduate, Amulya was working at a private company till she got engaged to one Rahul, son of P. Rajanna, who was residing behind her house on Nov. 11, 2024 and their marriage was held on Feb. 17, 2025. Amulya’s parents were told that Rahul was a permanent employee at the IT Wing of BBMP.
At the time of marriage, Rahul was given a Tata Nexon car (KA-11-P-2140), Honda Activa scooter (KA-11-EN-7200), 69-gram gold bracelet, 72-gram gold chain, three finger rings weighing 30 grams, silver plate weighing 2 kgs, silver pot weighing 2 kgs and Rs. 2.50 lakh cash to purchase wrist watch and clothes.
Similarly, Amulya’s parents had given their daughter; six gold bangles, three pairs of earrings weighing 17 grams, gold bracelet weighing seven grams, 20-gram gold earring, 35-gram short gold necklace, 64-gram gold chain, 86-gram long gold chain and four fingerings weighing 13 grams, besides spending Rs. 40 lakh on the wedding.
After marriage, Amulya began residing with her husband and his parents at a rented house in Padmanabhanagar of Bengaluru. It was only after four months, that she came to know that her husband Rahul was just a temporary contract employee at BBMP and has been removed from the job.
Amulya later told her parents about it, to which her parents expressed their helplessness. Later, Rahul and his parents told Amulya that they wanted to do business and began to harass her to get money from her parents, besides issuing murder threat to her.
When elders intervened, Rahul and his parents told them that would take care of Amulya and told them that they would go to Bengaluru and come back. They left Amulya in her parents’ house and went to Bengaluru, but did not take back Amulya even after three months.
On the other hand, Rahul and his parents vacated their rented house in Bengaluru and shifted to another rented accommodation elsewhere. While vacating the house, they had taken gold jewellery given during the marriage
When Amulya asked the address of the new house, she was allegedly abused and was issued murder threat, she has stated in the complaint.
A case has been registered under Sections 85, 352 and 351(3) of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Women’s Police Station in the city.
