Mysuru: More than 150 students of Cauvery College of Engineering took part in a cleanliness drive at the Mysore Palace premises on Thursday, clearing waste left behind after the Dasara Jumboo Savari.
Carrying garbage bags and wearing gloves, the students collected waste from the Palace grounds under the slogans “Our Palace, Our Pride” and “Clean Environment, Beautiful Heritage.” They also held an awareness rally with placards highlighting the importance of keeping public spaces clean.
The campaign stressed that maintaining cleanliness at historic monuments and public places is a shared responsibility, not just the job of civic workers. With Mysuru attracting lakhs of tourists during Dasara, public cooperation is essential to ensure effective waste management, the students said.
The initiative also highlighted the role of youths in environmental conservation and community service. It emphasised that engineering education extends beyond technical knowledge and career preparation to include social responsibility and community development.
Such activities help students develop teamwork, leadership and environmental awareness while encouraging them to contribute to a cleaner society.
